Food packages for the homeless – Let's show that everyone deserves to eat!

What is Munch?

Munch is a recently created community dedicated to fighting food waste. On its platform, restaurants and food establishments can sell leftover food from their venues. Customers can thus get fresh, untouched, and high-quality meals at discounts of up to 60%, helping themselves eat well while also taking action against food waste.

What is the JótEvő project?

The initiative already contributes a little to sustainable development and a livable planet for the future. Munch now wants to make the world better with another project. Starting September 28, you can purchase a special Munch on the site, which the Munch team will personally distribute to several homeless shelters in Budapest with the help of Magyar Máltai Szeretetszolgálat and ÉdesVáros.

According to expert estimates, in 2019 there were 15,000 homeless people in Hungary, of which 10,000-11,000 live in homeless shelters, while the rest live on the streets. (source) This number is growing, and homeless shelters cannot provide sufficient space. Due to the virus, the shelters have also found themselves in difficult situations, and food provision has become uncertain. We will write more about the problem and possible solutions in a later post.
