Revealed: The country where Munch, the Hungarian food-saving app, is launching its international journey

New country, new challenges!

At the closed-door press conference held on July 22, where there was an opportunity to chat freely with the founders and team members, discussions included, among other things, last year's achievements and international expansion. "From the beginning, we've been driven by the goal of making food-saving accessible to as many people as possible, so that eventually no quality food ends up in the trash. We felt the time had come to cross our borders and launch Munch first in Romania. We continue to welcome applications from responsible food service establishments, food manufacturers, and stores both within and beyond our borders, because only through broad cooperation can we put a stop to food waste" – announced Albert Wettstein, co-founder. The first munch packages are already available in Cluj, while food-saving will be possible from the end of July in Târgu Mureș.

Munch as a community

Munch is not just an app, but a food-saving community independent of worldview, with more than 80,000 members already. The initiative's community-building role was evident at this event, as the "Munch enthusiasts" also participated in the second part of the meeting. During a joint munch session, members of the Food-Saving community got to know each other and the Munch team. "For me, munch-hunting is connected to adventure, freedom, and a cool feeling. It's like a grown-up surprise game – I can't wait to bring it home from the store and go through the box to see what's inside" – said one returning customer at the event.

Munch's future plans

The initiative is already present in 11 Hungarian cities and one neighboring country, and it's ranked among the most popular food and beverage apps in Hungary. In the second half of the year, the Munch team has many more surprises in store...
